Welcome
Do you know The Program for Leading Graduate Schools? This program is supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and provides top quality education to students who are highly creative, and will play leading roles in the modern global society.
Nagoya University has six Programs for Leading Graduate Schools with different goals. In order to promote interaction among students who have different backgrounds, knowledge and experiences, we have a special joint symposium for all the six programs. Because we are wishing for a lot of people, especially undergraduate students, to familiarize with our activities, we have made this symposium open to the public. You can find the program and more details here. If you are interested, why don’t you join us?

Theme of this symposium
The concrete theme of the symposium is “Sustainable Development”, which is a key issue in the modern global society. “Sustainable Development” includes many aspects such as economy, environment, resources, health, etc. The “future leaders” are highly expected to contribute to it with a wide range of knowledge.
Students from the six programs will make joint groups and present their ideas at the symposium. Each group will choose one topic, and discuss it from various viewpoints before the presentation. In addition to the group presentation, Dr. Norichika Kanie (Associate Professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Senior Research Fellow, United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability) and Ms. Chikako Takase (Director, United Nations Centre for Regional Development) will give keynote speeches so that we obtain deep understanding and sophisticated ideas about the theme. We will also have a panel discussion with Dr. Kanie, Ms. Takase and students participating as panelists.
You can join us here! We are really looking forward to seeing you at the symposium!
